Service Description

Experiential Approaches for Anger Expression in Children and Adolescents Think back to your childhood. How did you express frustration? As a teen, was it ok just to feel upset? This workshop jumps into the nuanced world of child anger and how it can be expressed. In this workshop, we will explore literature and theory on anger expression, keenly focusing on conditioning to repress angry feelings. We will talk through a Gestalt Play Therapy approach to conceptualize anger expression in children and adolescents. In our learning, we will unpack the difference between anger and aggressive energy. Then, we will practice Gestalt Play Therapy activities, which offer children or adolescents space to build awareness and choice for emotional expression. Prepare for talking, drawing, and creating, as we make connections between the expression of negative emotions and child wellbeing. Objectives: Participants will review recent literature and theory on anger expression. Participants will review a Gestalt Play Therapy framework for anger expression in children and adolescents. Participants will utilize two Gestalt Play therapy strategies for healthy anger expression in children and adolescents. Presenter: Theodore Stripling CE: 6 contact hours (Live Webinar)
